Are you a wedding couple looking for a gorgeous garden for your Richmond wedding ceremony and reception? If you are searching for the perfect venue, then check out the Maymont Park and their gorgeous gardens. The park has an incredible layout with many sub locations that undoubtedly provide a great variety for wedding portraits. So, here is some great information to read about Maymont Park as your wedding venue.
THE HISTORY OF MAYMONT PARK
The history of Maymont Park begins with the story of James and Sallie Mae Dooley. They constructed the Romanesque style architecture property in 1893 and lived there until the mid-1920’s when they both passed away. After their deaths, the city of Richmond took over care of the property and opened it six months later as a city park until 1975. During that time, the Maymont Foundation was established to continue providing maintenance to the park. The foundation also listed Maymont Park with the National Register of Historic Places as a Gilded Age American Estate. This rich history makes the garden a wonderful option for a garden style wedding with a historic flair.
