This sweet family took a trip to one of the cutest parks in downtown Hampton for their family photography session. Their mom contacted me through Facebook to book a session. In our discovery phone call, she noted that she was kind of hesitant to book, although she really wanted to. When I asked why, she told me that her children typically aren’t into smiling for photos. She also said that her fiance REALLY, REALLY disliked taking pictures, as well.

In speaking about her concerns, I guaranteed her this experience is stress free, relaxed and fun. I also told her that I ensure the kids feel like this is a day at the park. And for her fiance, I involve him in ways that aren’t the standard “sit and smile”. Faith got so excited. We planned their outfits, date, and she booked.

The day of the session came, and the kids were pretty reluctant, if I am going to be honest. However, I asked them what they wanted to do, where they wanted to go, and they were pretty eager to tell me. So, we followed their plan. I used my experience that if we let the kids have a say in making their experience just as fun, that we will absolutely have a great time.

That’s what we did. The children were left asking to do more poses. Throughout the session, they were coming up with their own suggestions. And, dad even joined in excitedly. It really was great to see everyone being so involved and using their own individuality. Enjoy the session images and know that family pictures are an experience that doesn’t have to be anything less than amazing. I look forward to working with them all again!
